cPanel Apache Handlers.

cPanel Apache Handlers :
cPanel provides you Apache handler feature which will help you to control your Apache for handling requests for certain types of file or extensions when they are requested from your website visitor or search engines. Using this facility you are able to specify the certain action which you want Apache to workout when a request for such file made. This will add security for your website hence hackers will never know which server side language your websites is using or is created with so they won’t be able to play with your webpages. Since without this information hackers will find it difficult to attack your website.

Using this feature you can give your website a more professional look as you can use custom file extensions throughout your website. Using this feature you can also see all apache handlers which are already set by cPanel hosting control panel when it was installed and also the other custom handlers which are setup by your webhost onto their server which can be used by all accounts hosted on that particular server where your site is hosted. Thus there you may not required to create your custom Apache handlers as your website hosting service provider already might have set them on their servers for particular extensions. Most important thing to know that if you have created your custom Apache rule for your account then it will be reflected only for your account and other accounts on the same server will not get affected by your custom apache rule. But if there is any system wide rule set by your webhosting service provider then it will affect all websites and accounts that are hosted on that particular server.
